About Us

This is The Social Kit

The Social Kit was born out of one Perth business woman’s complete frustration at trying to find well-priced iconic Australian imagery for the many clients she had to service.  Our CEO, Nicole Jameson’s social media management agency, Dark Horse, also faced the daily challenge of coming up with witty words, zingy graphics, fresh images and videos, videos VIDEOS to support the ever-hungry social media machines.

For nearly ten years we struggled to find cool and relevant stock images of things like a group of gals enjoying a Friday wine together on a couch – which is ridiculous when you think about it. We know… how outrageous and yet it planted the seed of a brilliant idea.

We also know how many businesses desperately wanted the support and resources to help them manage their social media, but didn’t quite know how to achieve this, or have the luxe budget of a big corporation to be able to have stylised photoshoots and cinema-level social videos. Nicole and the Dark Horse stable of social media experts are nothing if not altruistic – which is a posh way of saying ‘they like helping people’.

Ugh… Those Crappy Stock Photos

Managing clients for nearly 10 years meant we discovered that many industries were not represented in those ‘stock libraries’, and those that were, had images that felt overly ‘stocky’. They may have been taken in America or Eastern Europe and certainly didn’t represent the more relaxed Australian ethos or capture our amazing lifestyle and vibrant geographical locations. How could we possibly promote a dental clinic in Broome? Or a business coach in Hobart? A vet in Bondi? Or a massage therapist in St Kilda? How indeed… and that seed we mentioned earlier began to sprout some encouraging shoots.

A Reel-y Good Reason

With the introduction of Instagram Reels and the rapid popularity of TikTok, we also discovered a very big gap in the availability of quality short videos that truly represented Australian businesses, were free of copyright restrictions and were also filmed in PORTRAIT for use on those platforms. The know-how of mastering this relatively new approach also left many confident social media maestros stumped (or exhausted or both), and avoiding the option altogether.

Taking the Stress Outta Social

These very real issues mixed with our love of a clever caption and an understanding of our clients’ woes in creating new, interesting and relevant content EVERY MONTH meant only one thing. It was up to us to find an easy solution and save Australia from mediocre social media.

Introducing The Social Kit.

We wanted to make creating quality social media content for your business easy, cost-effective and stress-free. We wanted to reintroduce the fun into posting about your business on social media because for too long, it’s become as about enjoyable as root canal work. We can do this with the Social Kit’s unparalleled access to quality imagery, graphics, videos and captions developed in Australia, by Australian creatives for Australian businesses.

We are ACE at providing relevant, cool, copyright-free images and videos for your social media. We are also ah-mazing at writing quirky, snappy and fun copy that doesn’t drip with an Americanised twang. We love being Australian-born and think you probably do too.
In short, we are not good at breathing underwater… but we can talk the leg off a chair.
